Highlights

Two Nobel laureates:
Douglass North, 1993 Nobel laureate, will present a public lecture. Ronald Coase, 1991 Nobel laureate, will provide a welcome note and a joint paper.

The Presenters
Speakers are prominent scholars in New Institutional Economics and China issues. They include past presidents of the International Society for New Institutional Economics, World Bank economists, professors of economics both overseas and in China, the dean of a Chinese business school, and a director of a leading research institute in China.

Topics
Three panels will discuss property rights, economic transformation, and enterprise reforms. The lecture by Douglass North will shed further light on economic development in China.

Interactive Panel Discussions
A conference call will be conducted with Steven Cheung, the immediate past Chair of Economics at The University of Hong Kong, dealing with followup questions pertaining to his recent overview of China¡¦s economic system. Participants can also take part in other panel discussions with the conference speakers.
