Jayantha obtained his BA in Economics (Hons) (specializing Econometrics), Post-graduate Diploma in Economic Development (Pg.Dip), and an Masters in Economics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He then obtained his PhD degree at HKU. Prior to joining the Department of Building and Real Estate in early 2008, Jayantha has worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Architecture and as a Research Assistant-I at the Department of Real Estate and Construction at HKU. He also has held posts as Assistant Lecturer in Economics, the University of Colombo, and as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Open University of Sri Lanka.
