Promoting sustainable development has become one of the most important issues in contemporary research. In line with this development, the Department of Building & Real Estate (BRE) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University has been pursuing actively research in the field of sustainable development in the built environment. These research activities have been well received both internally and externally. Following the implementation of a number of research projects, various research outputs have been produced. The progress made in this research discipline within the Department presents the basis of forming a research group to enable a collective contribution to the research discipline. This background leads to the formation of the Research Group for "Sustainable Development Process in the Built Environment (SDP)".
